As a leader in the metal construction industry, Metl-Span is committed to continually improving its ability to serve our customers. From the beginning and continuing today, Metl-Span has steadily improved and increased production and services capabilities to serve our customers and support their success.
Grupo IMSA, Metl-Span's parent company, is a leader in the North American steel, aluminum, and building technology industries. Grupo IMSA is a publicly traded, 3 billion dollar revenue company headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico with significant operating presence in the United States.
Metl-Span began in 1968 as Controlled Building Systems Corporation in Dallas, Texas.
Hussmann Corporation acquired the company in 1974 renaming it Metl-Span Insulated Panel Division.
Metl-Span returned to private ownership in 1983 and moved the operation to new, expanded facilities in Lewisville, Texas.
In 1990 Grupo IMSA made a minority investment allowing the company to expand production capability with its first continuous, foamed-in-place production line.
Grupo IMSA acquired 100% ownership in 1994 and approved the 1999 expansion to Virginia. This expansion doubled the company's production capability and improved its ability to serve the eastern regions of North America.
The latest facility opening in the summer of 2005 in North Las Vegas, Nevada, increases Metl-Span's capacities and capabilities - again expanding our commitment to quality and service now to the western regions of North America. This third insulated panel manufacturing facility provides our customers the unique ability to obtain identical products and services across North America from one company. We will continue to find new ways to improve the services and products we provide you, our customer.
