Metl-Span architectural panels have thicker gauge facings that provide a better flat, visual appearance than the thinner gauges used for profiled, commercial/industrial panels, and offer longer spans and more impact resistance. Architectural panels are usually flat, but are also available in some profiles such as striated or light mesa (planked). Quite often, they are used for horizontal applications, where panel lengths can be sized to line up with window mullions. Standard widths provide the most cost economy, but custom widths allow the designer the freedom to line up horizontal reveals with window heads and sills, providing a clean, orderly appearance.
Metl-Span commercial and industrial panels serve as walls, ceilings and roofs for commercial and industrial buildings, in new and retrofit construction. Metl-Span insulated metal panels can be easily adapted to pre-engineered metal building designs for almost any end-use as walls and roofs, saving material and labor costs. Other end applications include schools, manufacturing facilities, distribution warehouses, equipment maintenance buildings, mechanical penthouses, kiosks, equipment screens, aircraft hangars, prison units and office buildings.
Metl-Span cold storage panels function as walls, ceilings and roofs for cooler, freezer and food processing buildings, in new and retrofit construction. In addition, Metl-Span panels are ideal for dry goods warehouses and other controlled environment buildings where temperature control and insulation values are critical.
ThermalSafe® combines advanced panel design with Metl-Span's sophisticated manufacturing expertise to create a composite panel that achieves one, two and three hour fire resistance ratings under the most demanding conditions. In addition to its fire resistant characteristics, the panel provides good thermal performance and protection from the elements. The unique LockGuard® interlocking side joint further enhances the fire resistant performance of the panel with its tongue and groove engagement of the mineral wool core.
Metl-Span CFR Roof panel is an insulated metal standing seam roof panel and is the foremost innovation in all-in-one composite roof panel design, combining durable interior and exterior faces with Metl-Span's unmatched polyurethane core. The CFR insulated metal standing seam roof panel is a truly unique answer to many deficiencies common with more traditional roofing materials of the past.
Metl-Span Backup Wall Systems is the ultimate backup wall system providing superior air, water, thermal and vapor protection in an all-in-one barrier component. It can be vertically and horizontally installed with nearly any type of exterior rainscreen system. This unique insulated metal wall panel system introduces new standards in cost savings, design integrity and sustainability.
Metl-Span’s line of Single-Skin panels includes ten configurations for wall applications and one for soffit application. The line consists of concealed fastener panels with 12” to 16” module widths and exposed fastener panels with module widths of 32” and 36”. The Artisan Soffit panels come in 8”, 10” or 12” widths.

Metl-Span offers one of the most in-depth installer training programs in our industry. This program is dedicated to helping installers understand how the long-term performance of the insulated metal panel system can be affected by the installer’s attention to detail. Metl-Span is committed to educating erectors in the proper use, methods and procedures for insulated metal wall and roof panel installation. This new and innovative method of training will be beneficial to installers interested in quality workmanship and expanding their skill base.
Metl-Span Panels Are Sure Cure For Pharmaceutical Project
Schott Pharmaceutical Packaging, a division of the worldwide Schott Corporation, selected Metl-Span panels for its new 173,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and office facility located in Lebanon, PA.
The exterior of the new building features a combination of masonry construction and more than 40,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span’s CF-36A and CF-42 Striated polyurethane foam insulated panels installed in both horizontal and vertical orientation. The 3” panels were finished in Regal Gray over Polar White.
The CF Striated panel offers exceptional value while delivering the aesthetics of a flat wall panel. According to Sheila Snyder, project manager for design/build general contractor High Construction, Inc., Lancaster, PA, “Cost was definitely a factor. We initially considered several different materials, particularly masonry, but it just wasn’t affordable for the entire building. The Striated vertical panels offered great cost economies and allowed us to value-engineer to meet Schott’s budget.”
Ease of installation was also a factor in selecting Metl-Span. “The installation speed was remarkable,” Snyder reports. “Perley-Halladay was great to work with and had great attention to detail.”
According to Mark Doran of subcontractor Perley-Halladay Associates, Inc., West Chester, PA, “Given our history with Metl-Span products, we developed an attractive and cost effective strategy for this project. The CF-42 Striated panel installed vertically on the production areas of the facility allowed for a simplified steel frame and faster installation that lowered costs. As with any successful design/build job, there must be open and intelligent communication between all parties. We certainly had that on this project!”
Tom Marcinkoski, project architect for Greenfield Architects, Ltd., an affiliate of High Construction, agrees. “Perley-Halladay had great confidence in Metl-Span. And while we originally preferred all horizontal panels, the aesthetic outcome using the Striated panels in both vertical and horizontal is really superb.”
Metl-Span pioneered many of the developments of insulated metal panels and continues to make significant contributions to design innovation and technology that have become industry standards.
