Metl-Span Panels Provide Modern Look For High-Tech Manufacturing Facility
More than 36,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span CF Architectural wall panels were installed in a horizontal configuration to provide a modern look for Takao America Corporation’s new manufacturing facility in Canton, MI. Takao is a major provider of die manufacturing, pressing and welding for the automotive industry.
The panels were finished in two custom colors, Ascot White and Silversmith, and were highlighted with contrasting painted accent striping running the length of the building.
Installation of the panels was done by SDI Exterior Systems, Farmington Hills, MI. According to SDI president Bill Arnold, “We had an extremely discerning customer and the job had to be done to the utmost of our abilities within a very aggressive schedule. Many of the straight panels were 28’ long with very tight tolerances. But the greatest challenges involved on-site fabrication of the custom panels used on the entrance canopy and vertical band accents. There was significant detail work including compound miters and extremely acute angles. But everyone is pleased with the end result. The building looks fantastic!”
Architectural design was provided by GHAFARI Associates, Dearborn, MI. General contractor on the project was Shimizu America Corporation, Atlanta.
